Introducing Our Collection of Dental Surgical Blades

Dentistry is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases and conditions of the mouth. It is one of the oldest medical professions, dating back to the Indus Valley Civilization in 7000 B.C. Before the introduction of scalpel dental tools, it is believed that drills, forceps, or pliers were often used to extract damaged teeth.

Modern dentistry calls for the use of high-quality scientific research to guide decision-making in matters such as tooth conservation and dealing with oral diseases such as tooth decay and periodontitis; as well as diseases that could also affect the oral cavity such as diabetes, celiac disease, osteoporosis, cancer, and HIV/AIDS.

Cincinnati Surgical manufactures a wide range of dental surgical blades that meet the most demanding and complex requirements presented by modern day Periodontal, Cosmetic, Implantology and Oral Maxillofacial procedures.

PERIODONTOLOGY

Periodontology is a specialty that studies the supporting structures of teeth and the diseases that affect them. A periodontist specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease. Periodontists utilize scalpel dental tools to offer a wide range of treatments including root scaling and planing, periodontal surgery, implant surgery and other complex procedures.

COSMETIC DENTISTRY

Cosmetic dentistry generally refers to any dental work that improves the appearance of teeth, gums and/or bite. While it does not usually improve the functionality of the problem area, it primarily focuses on improvement in dental aesthetics such as color, size, shape, alignment, and overall smile.  Cosmetic dentists are also able to perform facial aesthetic surgical procedures similar to that of a plastic surgeon.

ORAL IMPLANTOLOGY

Oral implantology is the branch of dentistry that deals with the permanent implantation of artificial teeth in the jaw. This is a complex specialty that requires precision and attention to detail to increase the probability of successful treatment.

MAXILLOFACIAL

Maxillofacial surgery is a surgical specialty focusing on reconstructive surgery of the face, facial trauma surgery, the oral cavity, head and neck, mouth, and jaws, as well as facial cosmetic surgery.

CASE STUDY

Precise dentistry can be truly transformative and have a positive impact on a patient’s life. A very unique example of this comes from India, when a 17-year-old boy suffered swelling in his jaw for 18 months. The cause? A very rare case of complex composite odontoma, or a single gum forming “lots of teeth”. In the case of patient Ashik Gavai, 232 teeth were extracted in total over the course of a seven-hour operation. The surgery involved two surgeons and two assistants, and resulted in Gavai retaining 28 teeth and being able to return to a normal life.

OUR DENTAL SCALPELS

Cincinnati Surgical has you covered with all of your dental surgical scalpel and blade needs. Our dental collection includes the following commonly used dental scalpel blades:

Size 11 – The No. 11 blade has a pointed tip, suitable for making stab incisions or other precise, shallow incisions.

Size 11P – Similar to Blade 11, an extended cutting edge combined with a long, fine point makes the 11P ideal for stab incisions in soft tissue.

Size 12 – The No. 12 blade is a scalpel with a small, pointy, crescent-shaped end that can be good for scraping tissue.

Size 15 – The No. 15 blade is another scalpel blade that’s great for making very short, precise incisions.

Size 15C – Similar to our No. 15 blade, but with a thinner and more precise tip, ideal for getting into tight spaces

Size 15T – The 15T is most similar to our No. 15 blade, with a slightly tapered tip.

Disposable Scalpels Size 11, 12, 12D, 15 and 15T – Fully disposable versions of traditional scalpels.
